Ace is one of a family of four chihuahua mixes who came to us as surrenders. He is 9 years old and, to put it plainly, he is very overweight. At 32 pounds, he's in the medium dog category weight wise but he should be a smaller dog. We've had him completely vet checked, including blood work, and there's no medical reason for his obesity. He's just had too much of the "good life". His portions are being strictly controlled at the shelter, so we're hopeful he'll slim down soon to make him healthier and feel better. He came to us already neutered and has been updated on vaccinations. His special adoption fee is $100.

Ace is a hoot. He waddles around happily and loves a good butt scratch. He's looking for an adult only home (teens are fine) that is willing to work with him on weight loss and exercise. He should be fine with another mellow, smaller dog, and would probably tolerate cats, too. He could even be adopted with one of his family members and that would make him very happy (dad Toby, mom Khloe, and sibling Bella).

NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.

We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.

We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.
